About Funky Unicorn

As horse owners and medical providers, we wanted more out of our traditional horse treats. Our company started due to a necessity to help our horses in 2021. We were having issues with our horses not drinking during cold spells and being picky water drinkers which led to some of our horses tying up an even colicing.

We wanted an easy way to help our horses "want" to hydrate and to help them with muscle recovery post workout. We were making sugar cubes for treats and decided to add electrolytes to them for our horses which increased their water intake and helped with overall recovery and performance and prevented colics from dehydration. Our fellow riders and competitors that utilized our shared homemade product wanted to know where to purchase our electrolyte cubes and a new product was developed. Our proprietary formula for our Funky Unicorn Electrolyte Support Chews incorporates electrolytes in small quantities into an established treat of compressed dextrose cubes with a goal to help to encourage hydration and provide rapid muscle recovery. We have grown since 2021 and have on-boarded our medical director who is an FEI Veterinarian to formalize our formulas.

As of 2022 Funky Unicorn Products are manufactured in a pharmaceutical factory here in the USA. Every cube has the exact amount of ingredients since it is human pharmaceutical grade and is 100% show safe. In 2023 we sought certification of our product in Canada under the Veterinary Health Program and after rigorous review we were granted VHP approval for all of our products.

In 2023 we launched another product out of necessity, a Gastric Support Chew that helps to control gastric pH in horses when under stress to prevent the development of ulcers or manage current gastric irritation which is very common in horses. Once again, our medical director developed a specific formula that included dual buffers dosed for horses which are incredibly effective and popular with the equine community.

Our company strives to provide solutions for horse owners for common problems with horses such as dehydration and gastric irritation through preventative and proactive interventions. Administering anything to horses can be tricky and we wanted products that the horses would willingly take orally with health benefits that address most horse owners' struggle with daily.
